Frequently Asked Questions

Here are just a few answers to common questions people have, but if you really need detailed information it is best to contact us directly.

How do I go about seeing a psychologist?

There is nothing difficult or complicated involved. Simply call MBS Psychology Bendigo on (03) 5439 5590 to book an appointment and we will step you carefully through the process.

What does counselling or therapy involve?

Everyone is different and therapy will depend on individual needs, but MBS Psychology will generally use Interpersonal Counselling within a CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) framework. Other styles of counselling may also be used as needed.

How long will it take?

Normally, each session will last about 1 hour. The number of overall sessions needed will vary depending on your personal circumstances. For some people issues are resolved in just a few sessions, whilst others may need to work towards a positive outcome over a longer period.

How much will counselling cost me?

MBS Psychology offers affordable pricing to suit most budgets. Medicare and Private Health Fund rebates are also available in many instances.

Do I need a referral from my Doctor?

No, you can visit a psychologist without a referral if you wish. However, if you want to claim a rebate from Medicare you must first visit your Doctor and set up a Mental Health Care Plan before seeing a psychologist.

When can I book an appointment?

MBS Psychology offers appointments on Wednesdays only, with booking times starting at 10:30a.m. and ending at 4:30p.m.
